First day of the year and it’s likely that you are already feeling stressed, all thanks to the dancing in those stilettos or simply dancing.

It’s also when you are going to need to ease the  frayed nerves and de-stress after a hard night of partying.

Spas are definitely one of the best ways to relieve stress, say experts. But if you’re wondering what therapies can you pamper your body with for relieving post party stress, DNA gives you a low down on some spa treatments to start the year on a stress-free organic note.

Naturopath Nirmala Shetty of the ayurvedic, Nirmala Spa, says, “For stress especially post-party type, a relaxing ambience is important as the mind needs peace for relaxation. Shirodhara or abhyanga massages are best for relaxing, as lathering luke warm herbalised oil all over the body and then using smooth, gentle movements to rub the oil deeply into the body is a great way to de-stress. Oils are blended with specific herbs for physical and mental balance. The warm oil penetrates the tissues and works on loosening toxins from the cell and tissue structures. These are complete head-to-toe treatments.”

And those who do not wish to be lathered in herbal oils, can opt for body treatments like Thai, Balinese and so on. “Balinese and Thai reflexology massages that work on pressure point techniques, if added with hot stone or  hot herbal potlis provide great relief from aching feet, back and shoulders. Also these massages are deeply relaxing and a great way to melt away stress. They help in regulating blood circulation and improving the elimination of toxins through the skin, “ says a senior expert therapist at Sukho Thai spa.

Spas are something that actress Deepika Padukone too swears by to destress, even after partying.

“To relax from all the strain and stress nothing works better than a spa. I have a soft spot for Thai spas and love the pressure point massages. I love the spa resorts in Phuket, Thailand. Massages are a must for me, if I want to pamper myself or if I feel stressed out. I also indulge in hair spa, as it helps keep my scalp clean and moisturised, especially since the smoke in the partying zones often tend to spoil the hair,” says Deepika.
