Ranbir Kapoor's sister Riddhima delivers baby girl in Delhi

Though actor Ranbir Kapoor may be in the news lately for his philandering ways with women, the actor is quite the opposite when it comes to his family.

Ranbir is very protective of elder sister Riddhima, who’s married to Bharat Sahni, a Delhi-based businessman. And quite expectedly, he was present when she delivered a baby girl on Wednesday (March 23) in New Delhi.

Ranbir was always quite excited about his sister’s impending motherhood and had shared in his earlier interviews about wanting to be there when the baby arrives. However as the due day arrived, it was not all that easy as the actor, who was preparing for filmmaker Anurag Basu’s next film Barfee, was attending workshops to prepare for the role which will reportedly have him play a deaf and dumb person. Anurag had put both his lead actors — Ranbir and Priyanka Chopra through a couple of workshops to get into the skin of the character.

A source close to the actor says, “Ranbir who’s kicked about the film also readily agreed to go through the workshops. However on learning that his sister was due in a couple of days time, he requested his director Anurag Basu to give him two days off to fly down to Delhi. Barfee was supposedly scheduled to go on the floors on March 10, but the workshops pushed the films schedule by another 10 days. Ranbir who is a thorough professional requested Basu to let him off, but not before assuring him that he would work doubly hard on his return, and cause no further delays to the films shoot. Anurag too understood Ranbir’s plight and gave him two days off to be with his family.” The entire family was present at the hospital at the time of her delivery and everyone is overjoyed. The Kapoors are in a celebratory mode and the new-born has reportedly been named Samara.
