The actress tied the knot with her long-time beau and filmmaker at her hometown in Ooty
It may not have been a royal wedding, but actress Kalki Koechlin (28) and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap (38) were no less besotted with each other as the royal couple while tying the knot on Saturday in Ooty.
Koechlin had earlier said, “Marriage would be a natural culmination of our relationship. And I am looking forward to being a bride. Which girl doesn’t?” No wonder, she was beaming proudly after becoming Mrs Kashyap.
It was a known fact that the couple was planning to tie the knot on April 30, but there was also a buzz that the marriage would take place in London. However, it’s learned that the ceremony finally took place in Ooty.
“Ooty is Koechlin’s hometown. Her parents have been staying there for three decades now, and that is why they chose to tie the knot there. Though her parents are of French origin, the marriage began in accordance with mahurat and also had a small baarat,” reveals a source.
The wedding was a traditional South Indian affair, and was attended only by close friends and family. Kashyap’s entire family was apparently at the wedding, including brother, filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap.
What reportedly caught everyone’s eyes was the presence of Kashyap’s ten-year-old daughter, from his previous marriage, at the wedding. In terms of Bollywood presence, it was largely represented by a group of filmmakers like Vikramaditya Motwane, Shahnaab Alam, Vikas Behl, Piyush Mishra, with the exception being actor Rahul Bhatt.
Now that they are Mr and Mrs Kashyap, the couple does have plans to celebrate it in Mumbai as well. There are talks of them throwing a party for their friends once they return from Ooty.
“They had invited only around 40 odd people close to them for their marriage. But their party in Mumbai would largely be for their Bollywood fraternity,” says a source.
The newlyweds’ plans to honeymoon may seem unlikely at the moment as both are right now bound by tight schedules involving film promotions (for Koechlin) and film shooting (for Kashyap). But if the ‘London buzz’ is anything to go by, then may be they may just try to squeeze in a quick honeymoon getaway to the Queen’s land!
