SS Rajamouli directed 'RRR' is one of the most anticipated films that has Jr NTR and Ram Charan alongside Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Ajay Devgn amongst others in pivotal roles.

'RRR' is set against the backdrop of the independence era. The period drama centres around the life of freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sita Ramaraju. It will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and other Indian languages.

However, the filming of 'RRR', which is slated for release this year in October, has been put on hold for a while amid the pandemic. It is believed that some portions are remaining to be shot with Alia Bhatt.

And while several filmmakers have either pushed the release of their film or opted for an OTT release owing to the surge in COVID cases in the country, there are speculations that the mega-budget film, 'RRR', like many South films, could opt for an OTT release as well. Also, given the fact that Salman Khan's 'Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai' has opted to go ahead with the release with limited theatre release combined with the film also dropping on OTT, is only an indication of a paradigm shift in the business of cinema and how it is likely to change in the coming days.

But squashing all such rumours of an OTT release, Jr NTR has said that the makers are going to wait as long as it takes to release the film in theatres.

“RRR was never considered for an OTT release. There are certain films that need to be enjoyed as a community on a large screen. Would you enjoy watching Baahubali or Jurassic Park or Avengers on OTT? No. We never thought about doing that, we were willing to wait for cinemas. We have a ray of hope, we know people will come back to watch films. India lives on movies. We take them very seriously as audiences. RRR is one such movie," NTR Jr who plays Bheem in RRR told Deadline.

Additionally, he said that he believes that 'RRR', for its cast and story could be the film that could bring back cinephiles to the theatres when cinemas open up again after the second wave of the virus comes under control. He was also sure that 'RRR' had the capability of making a dent at the worldwide box office, which is when it releases in theatres of course!

Meanwhile, the Telugu star on Monday shared that he has tested positive for Covid-19. The actor added that he has isolated himself from others.

"I've tested positive for Covid19. Plz don't worry, I'm doing absolutely fine. My family & I have isolated ourselves & we're following all protocols under the supervision of doctors. I request those who've come into contact with me over the last few days to pl get tested. Stay safe," he tweeted.
