Comedian Varun Grover is the co-writer of Saif Ali Khan- Nawazuddin Siddiqui's web series 'Sacred Games'
In a shocking turn of events, several names of sexual predators came to fore after the #MeToo movement kick-started.
One such name is that of comedian Varun Grover.
On Tuesday, a screenshot by a woman alleged that Varun, the co-writer of Saif Ali Khan- Nawazuddin Siddiqui's web series, Sacred Games, had harassed her during an event earlier.
However, Varun emphatically denied the claims and in a long note clarified his stance.
In the note, he mentioned that allegations are fabricated and none of the sequence of events described in the anonymous screenshot ever happened.
"I completely, totally, categorically deny all the allegations being made. The screenshot in question is untrue, misleading, and defamatory to say the least," Grover posted on Twitter.
However, following the allegations of sexual harassment, reports suggest that Netflix India is now contemplating to drop Varun Grover's name from the credits.
In fact, the streaming agent might drop the plan of the sequel of Sacred Games, completely.
A source from Netflix told in.com, "At this time we are evaluating options on the path forward." A trade source also informed the entertainment portal, "The #MeToo movement is going the Hollywood way. After the news that Reliance is apparently considering dropping Vikas Bahl’s (one of the partners of Phantom,) name from the credits in Super 30, which he is directing, now comes another piece of news. In the light of the recent allegations against one of the writers of Sacred Games, Varun Grover, Netflix is considering some options on how to tackle the situation. They may drop the successful web series completely (which turned around Saif’s career once more) or drop the name of writer."
We didn't see this coming at all.
At the outset, Sacred Games is the first original web series of Netflix India, which starred Radhika Apte, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saif Ali Khan, among others.
