The Punjab government on Saturday (June 20) has cancelled class 12 board examinations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, informed by Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla. The decision has been taken after the approval from Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) class 12 result 2021 will be declared as per the pattern of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). “Punjab government has decided to cancel examinations of Class 12th due to COVID pandemic. Punjab School Education Board would declare the results as per the pattern of the CBSE,” Vijay Inder Singla said.
Singla said that 3,08,000 students enrolled in class 12 in government, aided and private schools under PSEB in the academic session 2020-21.
Singla added, "due to the challenges posed by the coronavirus it was not possible for PSEB to conduct the exam. As per the formula adopted, PSEB will prepare the result according to the formula 30:30:40 based on the performance of the students in the classes. "
Students will be assessed for marks they have obtained over the last three years. Marks obtained in their three best performing subjects out of a total of five in Class 10 will carry 30 per cent weightage. Students' performance in the final theoretical exam they took in Class 11 will determine the marks that will be given another 30 per cent weightage.
The final 40 per cent weightage will come from the marks that students got in Class 12 in “one or more unit tests, mid-term exams and pre-board exams.”
The Education Minister has informed me that the results will be released by July 31. Students will be able to check their result with the help of their roll number.
