Troubled with frequent mobile network outage while travelling in underground line of Metro? Fret not as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC) is working to address the issue and is hopeful of resolve the problem by February.
Existing lines like Yellow, Violet, Blue and Airport Line and newly opened corridors including Magenta and Pink suffer from network outage in their underground stations. Thousands of commuters who use the lifeline of Delhi, often complain about losing connectivity and call drop on these lines while travelling underground. A survey by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) also found that the problem exists in some elevated spots too in Yellow, Violet and Blue Lines. After receiving numerous complaints from commuters, the DMRC has deployed a team of around 300 to boost network in these corridors.
Sources claim that on Magenta Line, work is being done on Kalkaji stretch and Janakpuri West route to increase connectivity. In newly opened Pink Line, work to improve connectivity is underway from Bhikaji Cama Place station to Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro station. Sources shared that work on these lines will be complete by February. The teams are setting up mobile boosters in different stations since November. Work is being carried out only during non-operational hours as the boosters have to be installed in tunnels. Mobile network is fully functional now on the Pink Line section between Majlis Park and Sir Vishveshwaraiah Moti Bagh metro stations and on Magenta Line section between Botanical Garden and Kalkaji Mandir metro stations.
This lack of connectivity on certain stations, still has staunch loyalists of Yellow Line taking this line to travel between Gurugram and Noida instead of the Magenta Line. Though Magenta Line has significantly reduced travelling time between the two cities to 55 minutes, a lot of commuters still prefer Yellow Line. The reason being that of the 55 minute journey on Magenta corridor, commuters don't have connectivity for 40 minutes at least due to lack of mobile boosters.
