Scheduled to take place on September 2 at the Pallekele International Stadium in Sri Lanka, this match will mark the first India vs Pakistan encounter of the year. The last time these arch-rivals faced off was during the ICC T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in October 2022. In that thrilling contest, India emerged victorious, defeating Pakistan by 4 wickets, thanks to Virat Kohli's masterclass.

Babar Azam expressed his views on the longstanding rivalry between the two teams, acknowledging how fans yearn for more frequent clashes between cricket's biggest adversaries. Unfortunately, due to the dispute between the two nations since the 1947 partition, these encounters have been few and far between, leaving fans craving for more.

"Fans really miss India-Pakistan games that's why Players from both teams try to give their best and come out on top," Babar told Star Sports.
