Team India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday, October 24.
The warm-ups are done and dusted and the Super 12 stage of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 is set to get underway on Saturday, October 23 with Australia taking on South Africa and England locking horn with the defending champions West Indies from Group 1.
The games from Group 2 will begin on October 24 with the highly-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan. Team India, who have defeated Pakistan five times in the T20 World Cup in the past have begun their build-up to the tournament in style winning both their warm-up games against England and Australia.
The men in blue ticked many boxes in their warm-up games and now have a selection headache in front of them ahead of the tournament opener against the arch-rivals Pakistan.
Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, predicting India's playing XI on Star Sports show Cricket Connected, left out dashing opener Ishan Kishan from his top 6 while including all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who didn't bowl in the two warm-up games. Pathan also left out off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Rahul Chahar and went with mystery spinner Varn Chakravarthy and pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who leaked runs in the first match in the playing XI.
Ishan Kishan scored 70 runs while opening the batting against England and kept wickets against Australia. While KL Rahul continued his smashing form from the IPL and blasted England and Australian bowling attacks in the powerplay in the two games. Mohammed Shami was the most impressive bowler for Virat Kohli and co in the first game taking three wickets while Ashwin bowled well in both the games and took two wickets in one over against the Aussies.
