Sreesanth recalled Sachin Tendulkar's gesture during an interview.
Former Team India star S Sreesanth shared a heartwarming anecdote about Sachin Tendulkar during an episode of a reality TV show.
Sreesanth, who is currently taking part in the reality show Big Boss, was part of Team India in ICC T20 2007 and 2011 World Cup. One of the highlights of his career was his catch to dismiss Misbah that landed the 2007 T20 World Cup in India's bag.
He was also a part of the team that won the 2011 World Cup. However, he soon fell from grace after being accused of match-fixing in Indian Premier League.
Sreesanth, on the show, recalled an incident couple of years after winning the 2011 World Cup triumph, when Sachin Tendulkar took his side during an interview.
“I want to share one incident related to Sachin Tendulkar. 1-2 years after our 2011 World Cup triumph, an interview was going on. The interviewer asked about everyone. 2011 you guys played well taking all players’ names but not mine. When the interview was about to end, Sachin Tendulkar prompted my name saying Sreesanth also played a major role. I cried a lot during that time,” recalled Sreesanth on the show to fellow contestant Anup Jalota.
Sreesanth was banned from playing any form of cricket after he was caught in the middle of a spot-fixing controversy during IPL 2013. He was also arrested bu Delhi Police. However, he was acquitted in the spot-fixing case in July 2015. But the BCCI didn't lift the ban and on October 18, 2017 Kerela High Court restored the life ban on Sreesanth. He is currently fighting against the ban.
During the show he also expressed hope that he will clear his name soon and return to cricket. He broke down saying this while Jalota consoled him.
