The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to kick start on 23 March and teams have been gearing up for the same. As for skipper Rohit Sharma, he has many plans set for the Mumbai Indians team. Zee Media reporter Neha Singh talks with the captain and the team to know more.

The Mumbaikar who has been phenomenal for the franchise since, leading them from the front, is making sure no stone is left unturned. Be it from practice to managing workload for the upcoming World Cup, the captain is making sure the team lifts the trophy for the fourth time.

When asked about how he feels playing for the country, he said it is the proudest moment when you get a chance to represent your country. You always need to be motivated to win every game you're playing for the country.

With the ICC World Cup in England starting just 11 days after the IPL, a lot of the focus will be on Mumbai Indian players. Hardik Pandya (and brother Krunal to an extent), Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will be on the radar.

Rohit recently also announced that this season, the Indian team's specialist opening batsman will open the batting for the franchise. "This year, I will open the batting for all the games. That is for sure," said Sharma.

Sharma said that the decision was primarily keeping WC in mind. "World Cup is one of the factors. Also keeping in mind that this is where I bat when I play for India. And, that is where I have got a lot of success of late.”

Mumbai Indians (MI) will be facing Delhi Capitals in their first match of the IPL 2019 in Mumbai on March 24.
