Not long ago, the Indian young lads were in the news for their terrific performance at the ICC U19 World Cup in South Africa.

Despite not winning the tournament, many names got the limelight for their heroics.

One of them is Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Jaiswal had already made the headlines in 2019 after becoming the youngest to notch a List A double century during the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The left-hander even went on to bag the Player of the Series award in the 2020 U19 World Cup after racking up 400 runs at an average in excess of 130.

Now with the Indian Premier League (IPL) coming up, Jaiswal says he does not want to look at the past and will look to focus on the future.

Talking in an exclusive interview with DNA Web, the young lad said he is happy achieving the feat at the World Cup.

When asked how he felt after becoming the top scorer at the World Cup, Jaiswal said, "I always feel good after achieving that feat. But that is past and now I am looking forward to other challenges".

He also spoke about what keeps motivating him to work hard. "I love to play cricket and so I have always given my best when I play the game. I have some dreams and I am trying to make it happen. Playing at the highest level is my dream and that motivates me to help me and keep going," shared the India U19 opener.

Jaiswal, who was present at the Skoda Single Wicket Tournament, spoke about the tournament and how such events will help scout young talent.

He said, "Single Wicket Tournament is really a great platform for the kids to play at the national level. These guys are very lucky to get these kinds of opportunities. This event is great for grass route level players for sure".

As for the event, it was aimed at giving an opportunity to all aspiring cricketers in the country from the ‘Under 12’ and ‘Under 14’ age categories.

The tournament sought to bring the Single Wicket format in cricket back to its fame and glory as it swiftly identifies all-rounders and individual talent and skill. The national champions, across the two categories, were rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 10 lakhs to the winner and Rs 5 lakhs for the runners up to take home.
