England have just overpowered the third Test match from all sides as they furthered their lead and hence dominance over the game in the second session on Day 2 owing to a 139-run partnership between skipper Joe Root and Dawid Malan, which was broken just at the stroke of tea.

Malan continued from where he left off at lunch as never at one moment did he look out of place for someone returning to Test cricket after a gap of three years. Root playing an attacking knock from the other end just freed Malan as he could take his time and slowly get into his innings.

Root was just like a bullet train that has left a platform and will stop only at the final platform - when a bowler gets him out.

Malan defended well, rotated the strike well and hit the boundaries when he needed to when he wanted to and brought up his seventh Test half-century and ensured that he wasn't going away from the red-ball cricket anytime soon now. Root also brought up his half-century as the duo stitched a fabulous 100-run partnership for the third wicket.

The mammoth partnership meant England's lead was beyond 200 as India's never-ending nightmare was lasting too long for their good. But a respite was brought through Mohammed Siraj, who persuasion for the review to skipper Virat Kohli worked this time as faint knick was spotted by the ultra edge in the replays as Malan tried to glance a delivery down the leg.
