This state government to give loan for laptop to everyone, announces 8 lakh jobs too

Kerala Finance Minister TM Thomas presented the last budget of this session, Kerala Budget 2021 in the Assembly on Friday. This is the last budget of the LDF government to be presented in the Assembly. TM Thomas unveiled the LDF government's agenda for the next five years, if re-elected to power in May.

During this, he announced 8 lakh jobs for people in Kerala. However, how these jobs will be given, the answer was linked to skill development or 'Kaushal Vikas'. As part of skill training, the budget also talks about forming a 'skill mission' under the Kerala Development Innovation Strategy Council (K-DISC) as part of which 50 lakh educated youth will be imparted training on a war footing.

Laptop to everyone, job for all

Eight lakhs jobs will be created in Kerala and 20 lakh people would be given employment in five years through digital platforms.

Vijayan government's laptop distribution project will be expanded in such a way that every household in the state will have access to a laptop.

Various welfare pensions were raised to Rs 1,600 (which is Rs 1,500 at present) from April 2021.

Thomas announced that in health sector 4,000 new posts would be created.

Under skill development, talents of 50 lakh youths would be given a platform.

The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board plans to launch additional projects worth Rs 15,000 crore.

In the budget there is a provision for giving loans to buy a laptop to those people who need a job and are searching for it. 

Laptops to be given free of cost to the poor.

Education sector

1000 new vacancies to be created in universities.
800 vacancies in the higher education sector to be filled immediately.

30 centres of excellence to be set up among existing universities.

Rs 1000-crs outlay for affiliated colleges.

Tourism Sector

Rs 100 crores to be allocated for tourism marketing.

Interest-free loans for entrepreneurs in tourism sector.

Health Sector

4000 posts would be created in the Health Department.

Free treatment for the first 48 hours for people who meet with road accidents.

The Finance Minister has termed the budget a ‘vision document of the development and priorities’ in the post-COVID Kerala. He said the Left government, which had fought two consecutive floods and novel coronavirus pandemic effectively, considered each challenge and crisis it confronted as new opportunities.
