Ayushman Bharat to be healthcare game-changer

Ayushman Bharat, the central government's new health insurance scheme covers 50 lakh Indians and aims to develop India as a healthcare hub 

Rs 5,260 crore, or 40% of spending would go to public sector hospitals in the first year

Rs 7,250 crore – or 60% of the spend would go to private sector hospitals

10 lakh – people have already benefitted under the scheme

1,50,000 – HWCs are to be set up by December 2022

43,000 – additional hospital beds would be in demand in first year

5,000 – more doctors will be in demand in first year

1.7 crore – Hospitalisations likely in the first year
