The meetings for the General Budget of 2021-22 will start from Monday with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman holding a discussion with several stakeholders for the budget.

In this first meeting with the Finance Minister, major industrialists of the country will be involved. Earlier, in view of the coronavirus, the Finance Ministry had sought suggestions of industry organizations and experts through e-mail for the preparation of the budget. Apart from this, the government had also provided the MyGov platform, which was open from November 15 to November 30 for taking suggestions on the budget from the general public.
It is also being said that the General Budget might be presented on February 1 this year.
Like every year, there are high hopes from this budget as well. The salaried class hopes to get relief through some changes in its income tax slab. The industry also wants the tax burden on it to be reduced slightly. Therefore, to prepare the budget every year, the Finance Ministry talks to representatives of every section of the country and tries to know what is the demand of the people. This makes it easier to make a budget.
On Sunday, Sitharaman also reviewed the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Package in which secretaries and ministers of all departments were involved. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the progress of self-reliant India and its implementation was reviewed and the government is constantly monitoring this scheme.
In this budget, it is expected that the government will take some major decisions regarding growth. The Finance Minister has given this indication on several occasions. In an interview with news agency Reuters, Sitharaman said that 'India's economy will pick up in 2020-21 and the foundation for strong growth in the next four to five years will be laid in February due to high expenses in the budget.
