Krutika Deo in Taali

Krutika Deo is currently seen in Taali wherein she plays the role of young Shreegauri Sawant. Talking about how she prepared for her role in the movie, the actress said, “I watched a lot of Shreegauri’s interviews and ted talks available online. She speaks very openly in her interviews and lets us have a close look at her life. I would make little notes whenever she would mention her childhood because not much about those formative years is available to work on. I also watched a few documentaries about transgender communities from various parts of India. It helped me to think more deeply about the adolescent lives of transgender people.”

She added, “Also, Ravi Jadhav is a very well-known and respected director. We discussed a lot about gender identity and how conflicted Ganesh could be at a young age. On set, he gave me total liberty to explore and perform.”

She also talked about the challenges she faced while performing the character and said, “It was tough to tap into a character struggling with their own identity and to wrap your head around something you haven’t experienced yourself. There was also an added responsibility that this is Shreegauri Sawant’s life you’re portraying. On a lighter note, I also had to cut my hair short to look the part."
