In August 2017, there was brouhaha – nationally and internationally – when Farooq Ahmad Dar, a Kashmiri man was tied to a jeep by an Army officer.
Apparently, the incident was brought to the silver screen in Baaghi 2 where Tiger Shroff plays an Army officer and also ties a man to his jeep. Film critic Raja Sen wrote for NDTV: “When we meet the film's hero - the aforementioned indiscreet stalker - he is an Army Commando in Kashmir who ties a man to the front of his jeep and uses him as a human shield. Wow. It is the kind of thing I expected Hindi cinema to tackle at some point, but not in a Tiger Shroff film where his reasoning for this inhumanity is that somebody burned the Indian flag.”
When the incident occurred, Farooq Ahmad Dar told DNA that he was paraded for 26 km allegedly to keep stone-pelters at bay. He said: “I cannot believe that I am alive. They first thrashed me and then tied me to the bonnet of the jeep and zoomed past several villages.”
Dar, who eked out a living by working as a Sozni (handmade embroidery) craftsman, was on his way to Gampora when he was allegedly picked up by the army troopers near Putligam and tied to the bonnet of a jeep before being paraded around dozens of villages.
His brother Fayaz Ahmad had said that Dar had even cast his vote before he left to attend the condolence meeting of a relative when he was allegedly caught by the army and tied to the bonnet of their jeep to keep stone throwers at bay. The army officer who tied Dar to the jeep, Major Gogoi, was later commended by the army.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the scene in the movie:

So Baaghi 2 begins with Tiger Shroff's character — an Army officer — strapping a Kashmiri terrorist to a jeep. Next thing you know, there's a blog post: https://t.co/8QYx3EPEUq

In #Baaghi2 Tiger Shroff had repeated the real life incident of Major Gogoi where he used one of the Kashmiri as a shield in front of Jeep to protect themselves.

A horrible act finds justification in a Bollywood film. This compulsive nation-gazing is not just now, it goes back at least to DDLJ. [My essay]
How nationalism took over Hindi cinema https://t.co/MGewTqspXE
Just heard that Tiger Shroff plays an army officer in Baaghi 2 who ties a Kashmiri stone pelter on his jeep! Dekhni ni thi But now I’m gonna watch it for this scene alone! @iTIGERSHROFF May this movie be a huge success! all the best!

Make it a point to be a little late to the movies, to escape govt-backed propaganda a la national anthems. Today, I also missed #Baaghi2's most patriotic moment - where Tiger Shroff ties a Kashmiri to his army jeep as a human shield, in the start. #DodgingPropagandaLikeAPro.

Heard Baaghi2 has a scene where Tiger(Army Officer) uses Terrorist in Kashmir as Human Shield tied with rope on his jeep's bonut to protect civilians from Stone Pelters exactly the same way the Indian Army Major Litul did once.

100/100 marks for that scene. @TajinderBagga
Recreating the deplorable "Kashmir human shield" incident to establish a hyper-national gym trainer moonlighting as hero is a new low even for Bollywood. Never thought I'll say this, but there IS a worst Tiger Shroff film after all. #Baaghi2 https://t.co/T9DQMgSfhV

So in Baagi 2, actor Tiger Sharoff plays a character who is an Army Commando in #Kashmir who ties a man to the front of his jeep and uses him as a human shield. -- How low can #Bollywood go, I expect worse to come. https://t.co/wtLMFCSnMP via @ndtv
