During its political campaign, the BJP had promised improvement in the temples across the Karnataka and they seem to be right on track. On Friday, housing and Muzrai Minister SN Krishnaiah Shetty visited three landmark temples in the city along with media personnel.

The tour began at around 5 pm with the famous Banashankari temple, which is under renovation. The minister prior to his inspection, offered prayers to the various gods and goddess in the temple.

The other two temples of visit included Kumaraswamy temple in Hanumanthnagar and Someshwara temple in Ulsoor. “The minister was on a routine visit to inspect the status of several temples across the city. The funds for these projects are obtained from the donors who are keen on the development of such projects. Hence the government is making sure that the project is proceeding according to the plan and there are no discrepancies,” said an official from the Muzrai department.

The minister was in the news recently for issuing an order on June 2008 directing temples across the state to perform archana in the name of the CM Yeddyurappa and the state government everyday.

The Minister had later defended his actions stating that he had immense faith in God and had given this order for the well-being of the state.
