Rains played hide-and-seek on Thursday with almost all parts of the city receiving rain but at different times. The mild showers, lasting few minutes to half-an-hour, were also reported from Gandhinagar as well.

The Met department has predicted few showers for some areas of Ahmedabad while state predictions suggest light to moderate rain at few places in all districts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra.

Two incidents of trees being uprooted was reported from Ranip and Paldi areas while the civic body received three calls concerning dangerous buildings.

Meanwhile, corn vendors set up temporary stalls along the highway and seemed to be doing brisk business. “The number of customers usually goes up in the evening as many commute between Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad at this time. Sales are likely to be huge if there are showers in the evening,” said Bhimjibhai Parmar, a corn vendor.
