Gujarat BJP leaders who gathered on Saturday at party headquarter Shri Kamalam for poll preparatory meeting, agreed unanimously upon the mantra of 'play defensive'. The party leaders were concerned about the allegations, criticism or charges they may face from opposition ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

The party leaders have prepared the strategy to cover all the sides by proper counter arguments. The BJP leaders listed the issues on which the opposition may attack on the ruling party. The leaders have also decided to take the help of high command for the same.

A senior leader of BJP present in the meeting said, "We can sense total reverse trend as compared to the Lok Sabha polls of 2014. BJP had upper hand on situation as it was Modi wave and anti Congress psyche among voters so ours was the campaign attacking on Congres. But we have been facing same kind of challenge this time as BJP is in power."

"Latest Rafael deal is example on which our party is on back foot. Lesser rainfall and agrarian crisis in Gujarat will add on to the agony. So, we all have decided to play defensive but with all capacity. This is not the long term planning, once the issues against BJP government fizzle out, we will again play with aggression, " he added.

The party leaders also decided to maintain internal discipline among all the cadres. The party was concerned on the issue as several MLAs and workers have been showing outrageous attitude.

The leaders also discuss on strategy for by polls on Jasdan assembly constituency to be held after Kunvarji Bavaliya defected to BJP. The BJP has also decided that Jasdan by polls should be taken as test case and to make some political experiments during the polls that can be implemented as formula in Lok Sabha polls, if remained successful.

The meeting was attended by CM Vijay Rupani, Dy CM Nitin Patel, Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani, in charge Bhupender Yadav and other top brass.
