Air Marshal Rajiv Dayal Mathur has taken over as the Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) of South Western Air Command (SWAC) on Monday, an official statement said on Tuesday.
Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on June 4, 1982, Air Marshal Mathur has more than 5,000 hours of flying experience on a variety of operational and training aircraft.
He has held various Command and Staff appointments including command of a front-line Air Force station and a fighter aircraft squadron. His earlier appointments include Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Space) at Air HQ and Air Defence Commander at HQ Eastern Air Command, the statement said.
Air Marshal Mathur is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and National Defence College, New Delhi. He has completed MSc and MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies from Madras University.
He was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2003 and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2014 by the President for his meritorious service.
