The Vijay Rupani government had proposed to celebrate the completion of one year of governance on December 25, but the same was wound up with a low key programme on Tuesday. The government, in stead of holding an event with large number of attendees, ended it with just some formalities.

The chief minister, his deputy Nitin Patel, and other ministers paid input assistance to farmers on Tuesday at Rajkot, which had been announced earlier under relief work for scarcity-hit areas. The Kisan Sammelan was held where the CM had kick-started the process of paying the assistance of Rs 2,300 crore to 23.24 lakh farmers of the 96 scarcity affected talukas of Gujarat.

Moreover, the government gave away assistance of Rs 28.62 crore to 33,000 farmers for fencing their farms to save crops from blue-bulls and boars and that is again a scheme that had been announced long ago.

The CM also dedicated public amenities raised to the tune of Rs 666 crore on the occasion. Rupani inaugurated over 5000 newly built classrooms in government schools, nine polytechnic college buildings, and 350 Anganwadi centres during the programme. He conversed with the children of the schools through video conference. He also inaugurated the newly built office of Gujarat State Muslim Waqf Board on Tuesday evening in Gandhinagar.

The government linked its first anniversary with the celebration of the 94th anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The slew of welfare measures to mark the anniversary will be on till Thursday. The CM will distribute the orders of 1,000 non-agricultural permits that were made available online to landholders recently. The ceremony will be held on Wednesday in Ahmedabad.

The secretary to the CM, Ashwani Kumar, said, "The completion of one year of the government has been celebrated without jubilation, but the slew of events arranged on the occasion remain and that is testimony to the dedication of the government towards welfare measures. The government led by CM Vijay Rupani is more focused on projects and schemes that extend benefits to a cross-section of society and that is achieved through these events."

The hashtag created on the occasion #Ek_Saal_Vijayi_bhavah was trending on Twitter across the nation, the social media cell of the CM's office informed.
