Capello chosen to manage England football team

LONDON: The Football Association board has approved Fabio Capello as England manager.
 
A contract had yet to be signed, although it was an agreement has been reached in principle on a deal worth four million pounds ($8.15 million).
 
Negotiations are to continue Friday and Capello is unlikely to be unveiled as the manager until next week, but spokesman Adrian Bevington insisted 'there are no problems'.
 
There were concerns over Capello's desire for an all-Italian backroom staff but they were overcome on Thursday.
 
The 61-year-old succeeds Steve McClaren, who was sacked last month following England's failure to qualify for the final stages of Euro 2008.
 
The Italian is the second non-Englishman to hold the post, following McClaren's predecessor, Sven-Goran Eriksson.
 
He has won league titles with AC Milan, Juventus, Roma and Real Madrid.
 
"He is a very good man and manager," said Eriksson. "His record speaks very clear. He has won titles in Italy."
