Kanchi seer begins 10-day visit to city

    The Sankaracharya of Kanchi Sri Jayendra Saraswati will be arriving today on a ten-day visit to the city. He will be inaugurating a ramp for the benefit of the devotees at Sri Kamakshi Temple, SIES (Nerul).

    He will preside over the Mahaswami Sangeethanjali function on December 21 and SIES Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati National Eminence Award on December 25 at Shanmukhananda Hall.

    The seer will inaugurate a silver door to the Marubai Gavdevi temple at Matunga on December 27.

    About 50 kg of silver, costing Rs17 lakh, was used to mould the door of the 300-year-old temple. He will participate in the Rudrabhishekam at Brindavan Society, Thane on December 26. He will also present a silver crown and a pearl necklace to the deity at Titwala.
