Two months after she got her son Sujal back, Ulhasnagar resident Priti Chugh, 26, is in no mood to spare her husband, Bunty. When her case came up for hearing in the Bombay High Court on Friday, Priti told the judges that she wants to continue fighting the contempt petition against her husband.

The HC is presently hearing another contempt petition against Bunty, who was found guilty of not following the court’s order to turn up with his son, in addition to Priti’s petition. Speaking to DNA outside the court, the young mother said: “He (Bunty) never understood my emotions, or the feelings I have for my son. He kept me away from my child for 10 long months. I have been harassed by him and his family and, despite him facing the court’s ire and spending days in jail, he has not shown any repentance. If I let him off now, I may have to suffer for the rest of my life. I don’t want to lose my son again,” said Priti, justifying her decision.

She also expressed her faith in the judiciary. “I know the court will bring me and my son justice. No one’s more important to me than Sujal,” said Priti. The mother was re-united with her five-year-old son on September 4 this year. Bunty Chugh, a businessman, had abducted Sujal in November 2008 and fled to Nepal. He later left his son on a platform at Churchgate station and fled. A police constable brought Sujal to Priti. The HC had directed then DGP SS Virk to personally investigate the case. Virk had prepared a special team for the task and had traced Bunty to Nepal in 10 days.

Bunty, though, had a different story to tell. “The cases against me are false. Sujal is suffering in the bargain. I am ready to do anything for his future,” he said. Priti and Bunty are fighting several other cases, including a divorce case in other local courts. The HC will hear the case now on November 24.
