Mumbai: Tution teacher held for raping minor girl in Kurla

A case of rape has been registered at VB Nagar police station on Monday against a 54-year-old tuition teacher for alleged misconduct with an 8-year-old girl. According to the police, the accused, identified as Louis Fernandez, is said to have allegedly established physical relation with the victim, who came at his residence for private tuition.

According to the police, the incident was reported on Sunday when the victim went for coaching at Fernandez's residence, and later, on reaching home, the victim narrated the incident of molestation and rape to her parents. The parents immediately sought legal help and lodged a police complaint at VB Nagar police station.

"The parents of the victim registered a complaint with the police and the accused was immediately nabbed. The accused has been booked under relevant section of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and the Indian Penal Code. Necessary medical examination is under progress and the case is under police probe." said assistant commissioner of police, Kurla division, Uttam Kolekar.
