Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain warnings for the next 36 hours in Dehradun.

The weather department has predicted heavy rainfall in Nainital, Pithoragarh, Haridwar, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri Garhwal regions in Uttarakhand. The government has asked all these districts to be extra vigilant for the next 36 hours. In Uttarkashi, the Yamunotri National Highway, Oajri Dabarkot has been blocked due to fall of debris and heavy boulders. Similarly, the Gangotri National Highway has been obstructed due to landslides and heavy rains.

Chakrata and Tiuni areas of Dehradun are struggling with drinking water and health facilities. The incessant rains has created a flood-like situation in Rajdhani Dehradun with the rise in the water levels of the rivers in these areas.

Roads in the rural areas are the most affected due to rains. Main road in the rural area of Dehradun, three in Pithoragarh and Tehri, six in Rudraprayag, two in Chamoli, Nainital, and Bageshwar have been blocked. The most difficult situation has been in Pauri Garhwal where three state roads and 10 rural motorways have also been blocked.

The situation is worse in regions like Naugaon, Purola and Mori, which are cut off from main road. The situation in Pithoragarh is very fragile and several lives have been affected in the past few days. The state government has alerted all the districts and allocated of Rs 110 crore in case of any rain-related calamity.
