Maharashtra: College student commits suicide after girlfriend succumbs to blood cancer

A man jumped to his death after receiving the news that his girlfriend had succumbed to blood cancer, Mirror Now reported Friday.

According to the report from Mahabeleshwar, the man, identified as Vishal Gaikar,  a resident of Ahmednegar, jumped 4,000 feet into a deep valley after he was unable to cope with the untimely death of his girlfriend.

Gaikar, a second year student, discovered that his girlfriend had a form of blood cancer and was being treated at a private hospital in Pune. Unfortunatey, doctors were unable to save her, and she died on Monday.

"When Gaikar found out about this incident, he became very disturbed. He was also present for the girl’s funeral. On the second day of her funeral, he told his family members that he was going to his friend’s home. Instead, he took his bike and reached a deep valley near Mahabaleshwar. It was there that Gaikar jumped and committed suicide," the report added.
