Major promises made in the Congress manifesto.
With less than a week to go for the Gujarat Assembly polls, Congress on Monday released its election manifesto.
Congress in its manifesto has promised to waive off farmer loans and also to give quota to the Patidar community. This has been a longstanding demand of the Patels, which sparked off violent protest in the state in past. Now, the party in its manifesto has assured that the party will give quota to the Patidars without touching the reservations already there for SC, STs and OBC community.
The Gujarat assembly elections are to be held on December 9 and December 14 and the results will be declared on December 18.
Here are some of the points of the party's manifesto:
1. Bill will be introduced in the Assembly to give reservation to the Patidars under special category. Quota for SC, ST and OBCs not to be touched.
2. Farmer loan to be waived off. Also, farmers to be given at least 16 hours of electricity.
3. Petrol and diesel prices in the state will be reduced by Rs 10 /litre.
4. Remunerative MSP pricing with declaration before beginning of season.
5. Youth unemployment allowance upto Rs. 4000 per month; 100% finance for small self-employed entrepreneurs from all communities.
6. 200 square meters plots with 0% down payment and 5 years moratorium in GIDC for all self employed youth; withdrawal of contractual, outsourcing and fixed salary structure and filling of vacancies in government jobs
7. All college students will be provided laptops and smartphones.
8. To end contract-based system in all government jobs and the contractual workers are to be made permanent.
9. There will be fast-track courts to ensure women's safety and to deal crimes against women in the state.
10. Subsidised house for all women who don't have any houses.
