Strife-torn Kashmir is gearing up for a major literary carnival where authors from across the world would share their work with local writers in an effort to create a unique melange of thoughts and ideas.

Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK), the largest federation of literary and cultural bodies of the state, has decided to hold first ever Kashmir literary festival on the lines of Jaipur Literature festival in Srinagar this year.

The move comes after zealots allegedly forced cancellation of the first-ever Harud literary festival in Srinagar. Harud (autumn) festival was scheduled to be held in September last year in which around 30 authors from Jammu and Kashmir and 20 from other parts of India were to participate.

“Authors from around the world will be invited,” said Shujaat Bukhari, general secretary  of AMK.
