Arms supplier to Naxals brought to Nagpur, sent to police custody

Sunil Kumar Vishu Prasad alias Nagarjun was involved in allegedly procuring arms from various unauthorised sources and regularly supplying them to Maoists, police said.

    An alleged arms supplier to Naxalites, who was arrested in Hyderabad, was brought here and remanded in police custody till May 28 by a local court, police said today.

    Sunil Kumar Vishu Prasad alias Nagarjun was involved
    in allegedly procuring arms from various unauthorised sources
    and regularly supplying them to Maoists, they said.

    Cases had been registered against him in 2006 under the Arms Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act with Sadar police station here. He had been absconding since then.        

    Prasad was apprehended by Hyderabad police who alerted
    their Nagpur counterparts and a police team brought him to the
    city from the Andhra Pradesh capital.
           
    He was yesterday produced before a local court, which sent him to police custody, police added.
