To break the political deadlock over formation of government  in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has asked for conditional support from both the BJP and the Congress on its own terms against their offer of unconditional support. It threw the ball in the court of these two big parties in the form of 18 conditions or issues.

However, Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday sought 10 more days from Lieutenant Governor (LG) to decide whether his party would form the government in alliance with the BJP and the Congress.

Kejriwal has written to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and BJP national president Rajnath Singh and sought their clarification on their proposal of unconditional support. He has also put forth 18 points in his letter on which the Congress and the BJP will have to support the AAP, if it forms the government.

“This time government will be formed on the bases of the issues of the public and if Congress and BJP come to terms on these 18 points, the AAP would consider forming government because support can never be unconditional,” said Kejriwal who turned tables on three time CM Shiela Dikshit.

According to political pundits, Kejriwal’s move wouldn’t only ensure formation of a strong and independent government but would also save the AAP from being the perpetrator of re-election in Delhi.

“We have requested the L-G to give us 10 days and in this time we would ask the public of Delhi whether we should go into alliance with any of these big parties. The AAP’s inception is the result of politics of corruption and communalism practiced rampantly by both the BJP and the Congress, hence we don’t want support from any these parties,” said Arvind Kejriwal, outside LG house in national Capital.

The Congress had on Friday evening written to the L-G offering unconditional support to the AAP, but Kejriwal refused it.

Leaders of other parties have called him an escapist who is running from responsibility.  “The AAP has to form government if the BJP has declined the invite. It’s their responsibility as the public of Delhi has given them mandate. The AAP is running from its moral responsibility and wants to throw Delhi into re-election,” said a Congress leader.
