"There would be no Playtone without Adam Schlesinger, without his That Thing You Do! He was a One-der. Lost him to Covid-19. Terribly sad today. Hanx," posted Tom after hearing news about Adam's passing away. For the uninitiated, Tom Hanks was the director and producer of the music comedy 'That Thing You Do' while Adam gave music to the film.

Apart from 'That Thing You Do', Schlesinger also made music for 'Music and Lyrics', 'Jossie and the Pussycats' and the TV show 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend'. The Grammy and Emmy Award winner, was however, best known as the co-founder of his band 'Fountains of Wayne'.

Tom Hanks and his wife Rita were also tested positive for coronavirus and were under isolation in Australia in March. After being treated for the same, they now returned to their home in US.

Not only Tom Hanks, 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' co-creator, co-songwriter and star Rachel Bloom, who announced the birth of her daughter, also expressed grief. "I have so much to say about Adam Schlesinger that I am at a complete loss for words. He is irreplaceable," she wrote.

Jimmy Kimmel, Kathy Griffin, James Gunn and Stephen King also mourned the loss. Schlesinger had been honoured with Emmy for outstanding original music and lyrics for Antidepressants Are So Not A Big Deal from the TV musical drama Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in 2019.
