Film-maker Onir is known to be a stickler for intense performances by his actors on screen. He’s not happy till he thinks that the actor has given his or her their best shot.

So, quiz him as to which of the actor’s he has worked with till date have left him spell bound and he instantly said, “Juhi Chawla.” The film-maker says that he is completely in awe of the acteress's acting skills and wishes that there were more roles written specially for her, even today.

“Juhi is one actoress  who takes me by surprise every time. I expect something out of her and she is not afraid to tell me if she is not able to get a grasp of the situation at times. Her honestly blew me away when she walked up to me and said, ‘Onir, I’ve worked in umpteen number of films but you need to tell me what you expect out of me before every shot. You have to walk me through the shot.’ Very few people are so upfront,” said Onir.

The other actress he is impressed with, is Chitrangada Singh. Onir says that more than her acting talent, he is mesmerised by her beauty.

“When we were shooting for Sorry Bhai! I would forget that I have watch her performance and would keep gazing at her,” laughs the filmmaker. “She’s a very attractive girl — both on screen and off it. But Chitrangada has proven that she is more than just about good looks and I hope that things continue that way for her.”

Coming back to Juhi, Onir recalls an incident when he had explained a particular scene indepth to the actor well in advance.

“We were shooting in a deserted colony and I actually felt her transform and get into the skin of the character the minute I yelled, ‘Action’.”

Ask Onir as to what kind of roles the bubbly actor likes to essay the most and he says that she is, in fact, not afraid to break out of stereotypical images. “She is one of those rare actors who is not afraid to experiment and is not threatened by her co-actoress.”
