The coming months in Bollywood seem to be rather exciting. Not only is B-Town gearing up for some blockbuster openings and big releases, but is also keen to check out the hot new jodis that will hit the big screens for the first time.

Barring a few movies all starring the superstar Khans, most films will see stars being pitched alongside each other for the first time and the result: an interesting mix and hopefully sizzling chemistry to watch out for. Of these, Shah Rukh Khan’s pairing with Katrina Kaif is already becoming one of the most talked about as despite being in the top league the two are probably the only ones who have never worked together. Shahid Kapoor has been paired with Sonam Kapoor. Then there’s newer crop of Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan who will begin their run of being slotted alongside other biggies.

Imran will be seen with both Kareena as well as Katrina for the first time, while Ranbir’s chemistry with Nargis Fakhri is already causing ripples. Sonakshi Sinha and Chitrangda Singh will be seen with Akshay Kumar, while John Abraham has been newly paired off with Chitrangda, as well as Genelia D’Souza and Deepika Padukone.

These fresh pairings are already generating excitement in the circles, and trade analysts too feel that it’s a refreshing change on screen and will be welcomed by the cinema-lovers. “The old guard needed a change and it’s interesting to have so many new combos being tried,” says trade analyst Komal Nahta.

“There’s no denying that combos of A-listers like SRK-Kareena/Priyanka, Salman-Kareena/Katrina or Hrithik-PC will always create buzz and have a stronger pull at the BO, but these stars being paired to form newer pairs is also interesting,” he adds.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh explains that the dynamics have changed overall. “There are fresh concepts, younger filmmakers, and a hungry audience wanting to see beyond the tried and tested pairs,” informs Taran, adding, “More than anything, the actors themselves are not letting petty personal politics spoil the pairings on screen which will work in the favour of all — the filmmakers, the actors and the audience.”
