Pakistani actor Imran Abbas was to make his debut in Boss. He was supposed to play Akshay Kumar’s younger brother. But just a few days before shooting, Abbas and Akshay (also the producer) parted ways, following a misunderstanding. Shiv Pandit stepped into the role, while Imran — one of the most popular actors across the border— waited for his turn. Now it seems his wait is finally over and he will make his debut with Bipasha Basu in a film titled Creature being directed by Vikram Bhatt.
Though the newbie was bound by contract to Akshay’s production house for three films, the Khiladi has generously decided to free him from that and make a Bollywood debut.
Although some paperwork still has to be resolved, like returning the signing amount paid to Imran.
Creature is being produced by Bhushan Kumar and directed by Vikram Bhatt. Says an insider, “Imran has classic good looks and has been trying to make a debut in Hindi films for years. He had even auditioned for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and many other producers have shown interest, but nothing worked out.
Even Boss, in which he was to play an important role, fell through at the last moment. As per his contract for Boss, he cannot sign another Hindi film unless AK signs off on it.
When Akshay heard Vikram was keen to sign Imran, he immediately agreed to release him from the contract. The NOC (No Obejection Certificate)from him is, however, pending.”
The source adds that Akki and Vikram have respect and admiration for each other, having worked in two films together — Awara Pagal Deewana and Deewane Huye Pagal. A source close to Akshay confirms, “Yes, Akshay has given the green signal to Imran. He’s not the kind of guy to deprive someone of a good break. It’s difficult for a newcomer to get a break on his own in B-Town and since Imran was getting one, Akshay gave him his blessings. He feels it’s Imran’s destiny and he didn’t want to stand in the way of that.”
