At the tender age of eight,  National Geographic channel had selected Siddharth Nagarajan as one of seven geniuses in the world for a programme titled My Brilliant Brain.

After severe testing, Siddharth was declared an inborn genius. Since then, he has been mesmerising audiences with his drumming skills, which he has been developing since he was only eighteen moths of age.

“I don’t just like drumming, I just love it,” says Siddharth when asked about his feelings for the instrument.

It all started for Siddharth when he sneaked into his father’s music room and started beating the dhol rhythmatically. (His father Nagarajan is a well known percussionist in South India and his mother Vidya, is a classical trained singer). Sensing his keen interest, his father made him a special drum kit to suit his size.

Siddharth later performed in front of an audience for twelve continuous minutes and has since drummed his way into the Limca Book of Records for three consecutive years (2003-05), as the youngest drummer.

Recently, Siddharth launched his first album Jai Shri Hanuman and is working on his next, which is on Sai Baba. “Everyone is quite supportive thankfully. Competition is not within the school but with other schools. We usually have many inter-school music contests where a special skill is required and I am often called upon to represent my school in it,” he reveals.

As for the future, Siddharth says he would like to take his love of music further and study the subject at the prestigious Berkley School of Music in the US. “I need to  polish myself thoroughly, before I decide what my next move will be,” remarks the little wonder.
