The Special Cell of the Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a wanted criminal, who along with seven other associates, had kidnapped a Delhi-based doctor Shrikant Gaur for a ransom of Rs 5 crore from the Preet Vihar area in July 2017.

The accused was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest by Delhi. The accused has been identified as Harsh alias Gaurav Sharma, a resident of Meerut. He along with an Ola cab driver and six others associates had allegedly kidnapped Gaur, a doctor at the Metro Hospital.

According to the police, on July 6, 2017, Gaur, a resident of Gautam Nagar, had hired an Ola cab from the Preet Vihar Metro Station, but thereafter he went missing. The abductors demanded Rs 5 crores for the safe release of Gaur from OLA. Seven accused persons including the mastermind Sushil were arrested but accused Harsh remained at large.

The police received a secret information last week that Harsh would come to meet his associate at Buddhist Monastery, near ISBT Kashmere Gate.

Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, DCP Special cell said that the police team acted on specific inputs and laid a trap at the vantage points. He was then arrested.

REVELATIONS

During the interrogation, he revealed his identity as Harsh alias Gaurav Sharma and confessed his involvement in the kidnapping case. The police, however, have not found any incriminating material on his search.
