In the clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC), the latter team's skipper Rishabh Pant has added a new feather to his cap. The captain on Tuesday surpassed veteran Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag to become the highest run-getter for his franchise in T20 cricket. 

Pant achieved the feat while batting in the first innings of the Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium as he scored 35-ball 38.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who has made 79 appearances since his debut for the franchise in 2016 now amasses 2390 runs for the Capitals. The batsman averages 35.96 and has a strike rate of 148.35 with one century and 14 fifties. 

As for Sehwag, the veteran had scored 2382 runs for Delhi which comprises his tally of 2174 runs in his 79 appearances for the franchise in IPL.

This is the second consecutive match at the venue where batters have struggled and in-form batsmen like Shikhar Dhawan, Steve Smith and Pant were all well set but fell before making a big score. Shreyas Iyer too was sent back after scoring just a run. 

As for KKR, it was the spinners who did the heavy lifting as Narine picked two for 18 in four overs while Varun Chakravarthy conceded only 24 runs without a wicket. Suprise bowler Venkatesh Iyer and Lockie Ferguson picked up two wickets each while debutant Tim Southee also took a wicket.
