Jofra Archer has been known as the ‘Oracle of Twitter’ for his uncanny ability to predict events much before their time. His tweet snapshots have gone viral and many people on social media have linked up his tweets of four, five or six years to connect with events in the current period. However, on Saturday, Jofra Archer was subject to racist abuse and hate on his official Instagram page. Archer shared the story on his Instagram handle and he gave it back to the troll who said whether he was wearing a ‘stolen watch’.

Archer shared a message from one Josh Bell who said, “Take that jewellery off.  You are not Snoop Dogg. You are playing cricket. Why are you wearing a ‘probably stolen’ watch?” Archer took the screenshot and stated, “Hey Guys, can you help me to report this page please?” After some time, the troll offered his apologies.

He wrote, “Would like to send my full apologies with huge regret about some outrageous and ridiculous comments posted last night up late and drunk watching the cricket, mad at the Aussies collapse..no excuses disgraceful behavior, apologies once again," the troller messaged Archer. The England pacer had a classy response when he said, “If you are thinking that when you’re drunk, you are always thinking it.”

Not for the first time

This is not the first time that Archer is being subject to racist taunts in his career. During the series in New Zealand in 2019, some fans were ejected out of the stadium after they hurled racist abuses at him. New Zealand Cricket took cognizance of the matter and warned of severe consequences.

Archer played a vital role in England’s World Cup winning team as he bowled the final over as the match ended in a tie but the hosts were declared the winners of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup by superior boundary count. Archer will play for Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming IPL 2020.
