Indian bowlers came back after England's strong performance in the first half of the game as they restricted the powerful batting line-up to a sub-par score of 164 in their 20 overs in the second T20I. England batsmen could score only 35 runs in the last five overs as they didn't get the final push that they needed to get to a score of around 180.

India won the toss and put England into bat. The home side made two changes as they handed debuts to Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav in place of Shikhar Dhawan and Axar Patel. India were off to a great start as Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Jos Buttler off the third ball of the first over.

After which, Jason Roy took the onus on him as he led the initiative along with Dawid Malan. Malan wasn't at his fluent best but Roy kept the scoring rate running for the visiting side. The duo brought a 50-run partnership as they recovered from the initial blow.

However, Malan couldn't continue for long as leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal trapped him in front of the wickets. Roy continued his midas touch as he kept scoring and helped England take their run-rate above eight.

Roy fell soon after, trying to slog Washington Sundar. Sundar gave another blow to the English team by removing Jony Bairstow soon after.

India pressed breaks by taking regular wickets and some outstanding death bowling by Shardul Thakur and Bhuvneshwar helped them restrict England under 170.
