Rohit Sharma looked good for a big knock against Australia on the second day of Brisbane Test, but threw it away trying to hit a six

Indian batsman Rohit Sharma, got in again and got out again. Rohit, who has looked brilliant for the 20s, 40s and 50s scores that he has got in the three innings of the ongoing four-match Test series against Australia, threw his wicket away again, on Saturday after getting set for a big one.
Rohit had played well till that moment before he tried to loft one over the leg side off the off-spinner Nathan Lyon. He was into the shot too early and mistimed it, hitting straight in the air into the hands of long-on fielder Mitchell Starc.
In the three innings he has played in the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rohit has returned with scores of 26, 52 and 44. While he has batted well and looked at home in all the three innings, he hasn't dug deep and batted for long period of time and thrown his wicket away trying ti hit a big shot.
However, the Brisbane dismissal received a lot of flak from the cricket experts, cricketers themselves and from the fans as well. Former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar, criticised Rohit for playing that particular shot at that point in the innings, when he was set and India looked good to put pressure on the hosts.
"Why? Why? Why? That's an unbelievable shot. That's an irresponsible shot. There is a fielder there at long-on. There is fielder there at deep square leg. You just hit a boundary a couple of deliveries earlier," Gavaskar lashed out after seeing the shot he played.
Commentating for Channel 7 in Australia, Gavaskar continued saying, "Why would you play that shot? You're a senior player. There's no excuse. Absolutely no excuse for this shot. Look at that. Simple catch. He's got big mitts. He is not going to miss that. An unnecessary wicket, an unnecessary wicket gifted away ... what a waste of a wicket.
"This is Test match cricket. You have to start, you have to convert it into a big hundred particularly when the opposition has 369," Gavaskar added.

While the former legend was visibly and verbally displeased, Rohit's habit of losing it all away pretty quickly and go for an ugly hoick during the Test matches didn't went well with the other cricket experts and the fans as well.
While India's women cricket captain and legend Mithali Raj also expressed her frustration after he gave his wicket away.
@ImRo45 .. you were timing so so well ..

Many cricket experts were of a view that only Rohit can get himself out after playing so well for his 44. They said that his habit of throwing it away is also the biggest reason of his irregularity in the Indian Test side and should learn how to play big and long after getting set.
Some of the fans also expressed their frustrations using hilarious memes from various streaming shows, stressing the fact that Rohit could have easily got a hundred had he played on the merit and with a little patience.

Rohit Sharma and Test cricket continue to be on a date that always seems destined for a perfect ending before he steps out of his crease unconvincingly to an off spinner at the worst time possible #AUSvIND

One of Kohli’s many talents is that he rarely, if not never, throws his wicket away. Once set, almost always makes it count, and makes the bowler work for his wicket. Something Rohit Sharma must emulate if he is to cement his place as opener. #AUSvIND

Sharma has done it all in this Test so far:
- Taken his catches
- Avoided Shaw's throw
- Laughed off Pant's appeal
- Seen off the new ball
- Timing the ball well
- Given it away when he was looking good.

If there's one batsman in the Indian batting lineup I can imagine of being capable of throwing away his wicket like that, it has to be Rohit Sharma. You see why I'm sceptical about his temperament for Test cricket? #AUSvsIND

That’s been the story of Rohit Sharma’s Australian tour so far: he has looked completely at home till he has got himself out. #INDvAUs
