Mother Dairy to invest nearly Rs 200 crore in 2 units in Maharashtra

The investment will be made in two units -- one at Bhiwandi, and the other in Nagpur -- Mother Dairy said.

Mother Dairy will invest about Rs 200 crore in two facilities in Maharashtra, the dairy products company said at the launch of its new milk variant, 'Premium' high cream milk, in Mumbai. 

It said that the company will invest Rs 65 crore for a milk processing facility in Nagpur, which is an existing government unit and will be taken over on an operations contract basis. The Nagpur unit will be operational by 2017. 

Another Rs 120-140 crore will be spent on a facility in Bhiwandi, which will be the largest in Maharashtra. When the operations commence, it will have the capacity to process three lakh litres of milk per day, which will go up to seven - eight lakh litres when fully operational, Mother Dairy said. 

On Wednesday, Mother Dairy launched 'Premium' high cream milk in the Greater Mumbai region.

A press release from the company said that the new product will be available in 500 ml and 1-litre packs, priced at Rs 27 and Rs 53, respectively. 

"Mother Dairy's 'Premium' Milk will offer the highest fat content of 7% along with 9% SNF, ideal for consumers looking for rich milk diet," the statement said. 

The new 'high cream' milk has been launched ahead of the festive season, which would make it the apt choice to make home-made sweets, Mother Dairy said. 

The dairy products' company said the new variant "is an apt choice for homemakers to rejoice with their families with delicacies during the festive season. It would be ideal for consumers looking to indulge in home-made sweets, ghee and curd as the variant offers 15% extra malai (cream) in comparison to Full Cream Milk, it said.

At the launch, S Nagarajan, Mother Dairy Managing Director, Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable, said, " We are driven by the ethos of consumer centricity, keeping their needs to the core of a new product development."

"The newly launched product is in line with the same strategy to cater across section of consumers, I am confident that the product will be liked by the consumers, which hsa been specially designed as per the market needs," he said. 

Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable, Business Head - Sandeep Ghosh, said, "The newly launched Mother Dairy's 'Premium' Milk is distinctly different from the options available in the market. 

The company said it will soon be launching a marketing campaign with Above The Line (ABL) and Below The Line (BTL) initiatives to reach out to their target audience.
