Ranveer Singh raps his way through Gully Boy trailer announcement

The makers of Gully Boy have found a fun way to announce the trailer of their upcoming film – by making their lead actor Ranveer Singh rap the tunes of Asli Hip Hop.

The rap and the video take us through his journey from being a rowdy from a chawl, who utilized his talent to become a renowned rapper.

It reveals that while people have a lot of hatred for Ranveer’s character, he has found love in his mother and Alia Bhatt, whose smile is his trophy, as well as the fact that he is passionate about hip hop because of the loyalty that culture has provided him with.

Ranveer now wants to spread his passion across the country, which has lost the essence of Hip Hop according to the rap. The announcement video ends with the tagline ‘Apna time aayega’, kya?

The surprise element here in the video is Kalki Koechlin, who seems to be in love with Ranveer, as much as he is with Alia and Hip Hop.

Composed by Spitfire, the video also features other singers D'Evil, Nexus, Rahul raahi, Emiway Bantai, D-cypher, BeatRAW and Big Sid.

Director Zoya Akhtar will portray the story of real-life rapper Divine, played by Ranveer Singh, in the movie which also stars Vijay Raaz as his father. The trailer of the same will be out on 9th January 2019.
