Gujarat govt grants Rs 596 crore to 24 civic bodies

Gujarat government on Thursday approved grant of Rs 596.34 crore to 18 municipalities and six municipal cor-porations for various infrastructural and developmental works.

An official release said that CM Vijay Rupani approved Rs 153.11 crore for water supply projects, Rs 62.23 crore for railway overbridge and underbridge works, Rs 344.36 crore for underground drainage projects, Rs 8.56 crore for various beautification works, Rs 8.58 crore for roads and street-lights, and Rs 19.50 crore for traffic signal and integrated command control centre.

The release said that grant of Rs 62.26 crore was approved for water supply projects of Surat Municipal Corporation. Rs 18 crore were approved for setting up an integrated command and control centre and upgradation of fire brigade in Gandhinagar.

The government granted Rs 61 crore to Vadodara Municipal Corporation for setting up a 50 million litre per day water treatment plant, and Rs 12 crore for drinking water works in peripheral areas now merged with Vadodara city.

The release said Rs 31.40 crore were allocated to Junagadh Municipal Corporation for a railway overbridge.
