Iraq imposes indefinite curfew in Baghdad

An indefinite curfew has been imposed in Baghdad following the bombing of a revered Shiite shrine in Samarra, state television reported.

    BAGHDAD: An indefinite curfew has been imposed in Baghdad from Wednesday 3:00 pm (1100 GMT) following the bombing of a revered Shiite shrine in the northern town of Samarra, state television reported.   

    Baghdad already is under a nightly curfew between 11:00 pm (1900 GMT) and 6:00 am (0200 GMT).   

    Suspected Sunni insurgents on Wednesday blew up the minarets of a revered Shiite shrine in the Iraqi town of Samarra, 15 months after its bombing by Al-Qaeda militants ignited brutal sectarian clashes.
