Zoom meeting halted after wife of an official appeared naked during call

The COVID-19 pandemic introduced the world to Zoom meetings, which have been rater helpful for people in conducting meetings, seminars and work. But zoom call blunders have become somewhat normal.

Recently, a South African traditional leader was left “embarrassed” after his wife accidentally showed up naked during a parliamentary Zoom meeting.

Xolile Ndevu is a member of the National House of Traditional Leaders and was attending a zoom meet with 23 other leaders in South Africa about COVID-19 deaths during a meeting on March 30.

Ndevu was explaining how Eastern Cape is working with local doctors when his wife suddenly appears behind him naked, reported Daily Mail.

In the viral video, the other attendees can be seen laughing as Ndevu appears in the camera. This prompted the committee chairperson Faith Muthambi to intervene and pause the meeting.

"Inkosi, people behind you are not properly dressed. We are seeing everything,” she says to Ndevu. 

"Please, Inkosi, did you tell them you are in a meeting. It is very disturbing what we are seeing,” she further says.

Muthambi continues to say that it not the first time that such an incident has taken place during a Zoom meeting with him. 

"Whenever we are meeting with you, we see these unruly pictures. You are live on TV,” Muthambi adds.

Ndevu can then be seen covering his face with his hands and apologising. 

“I’m very sorry. I was focusing on the camera and not behind me. I’m so embarrassed,” he told.

The following day, he explained, “This Zoom technology is new to us and we were never trained. Our houses are not built so we can have privacy for these meetings.”

Ndevu also said that the meeting was supposed to finish by 10 pm. “As the meeting continued after 10pm, my wife came in to use the bathroom and was unaware I had the video feed on. I apologise,” he said.
