A court in Panvel on Wednesday remanded Pintu Singh, the alleged shooter in the 2006 murder of Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar, in CBI custody till June 24.
    
Singh, whose custody was taken by the CBI on Tuesday from the Uttar Pradesh Police, has been accused of killing Nimbalkar and his driver Samad Kazi on June 3, 2006 at Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai.
    
The CBI informed the Panvel court that it needs Singh's custody to verify certain points that have been revealed by the other arrested accused in the case.

"Singh, who has several murder and assault cases registered against him in Uttar Pradesh, was hired by arrested accused Parasmal Jain to eliminate Nimbalkar," the CBI remand application said.
   
The CBI has so far has arrested six persons in the case - NCP leader and MP Padamsinh Patil, Mohan Shukla, Satish Mandade, Dinesh Tiwari Jain, and Singh.

All the arrested persons are accused of conspiring and murdering Nimbalkar and Kazi.
