Co-owner of Lucky restaurant falls to death

The co-owner of the well-known Lucky Hotels died after accidentally falling from the ninth floor of his building in Bandra on Tuesday. Based on the preliminary investigation, the police have ruled out foul play.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 2am on Monday at Hicons Height building in Khar, when deceased Sayed Mustafa Ali Akbar Huseini came out to the balcony for some fresh air. While standing, he reportedly lost his balance and fell off, without anyone from his family realising it. Initial investigation by the police revealed that the deceased Huseini, 73, was suffering from heart disease and asthma, and would confine himself to his home.

Sources say that a building watchman who was guarding the building, saw Huseini lying in a pool of blood. He immediately informed Huseini’s family about it, who then rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.

The Khar police which is investigating the case, have registered a case of accidental death. “Prima facie we have not found any foul play. However, further investigation is on in the case and all possible angles are being probed,” said senior police inspector Mangesh Pote of Khar police station.

Lucky Hotel and Restaurant located near Bandra station has been a landmark of the area since its inception in the year 1938.

Famous for its Mughlai food, especially biryani, the restaurant which is now being run by the fourth generation of the Huseini family, is frequented by many  high-profile celebrities in the area.

The restaurant remained closed on Tuesday. No one from the family was available for comment. An employee of the restaurant said, “ Its a tragic incident and is a personal loss for all of us.”
